    The BIG day

    December 6, 2012 by CollegeWood
    • Today, CollegeWood stepped up BIG time.
    • We went around town for the last few video clips, and went on a selling spree.
    • At Foxhill Apartments we sold one set of JMU letters, and talked to the Property Manager for over an hour. Through our persuasive ways, we actually garnered an additional sale- a preorder of $200.
    • The $200 is split up with letters: (&) (FOXHILL) and an engraving with letters: (...A Winning Combination!!!)
    • Then we sold another set of JMU letter
    • And, collected a preorder for Adam's family business, with letters: (SERVING THE COMMUNITY SINCE 1866)
    • Lastly, Nick requested a preorder of letters: (NCSU) and a monogram
    • Total inflow for the day = $600
    • I'd call that... Success.

As of 6:57 pm, the class chart rests at:

    Letter to sororities

    December 5, 2012 by CollegeWood

    Good evening,

My name is Nick Wathan and I am contacting you in regards to the promotion of my Entrepreneurship 372 project. While studying in the College of Business at James Madison University, I have been given the opportunity to create a business: CollegeWood. We specialize in the creation and sale of Greek letters along with other various items. At this point, we have our products available and would like to come speak to your sorority. We understand the time constraints and prior agenda planning involved, but we would be very grateful for a few minutes of your sorority’s time to make an announcement about the availability of Greek letters.  Our letters are 12 inches tall, made from quality material, and are primed white, ready to enti…

    12/2/2012

    December 2, 2012 by CollegeWood

Today, CollegeWood visited the fraternity: Delta Upsilon.

We sold 4 sets of letters for a total revenue of $80.

We also delivered a wonderful presentation, in hopes to receive more orders, which we did.

New orders total 5 for Delta Upsilon, bringing in an additional preorder revenue of $100.

We also took a preorder for a returning customer for JMU letters, but he requested Birch wood, which is still on order.

We are selling quite a bit, on preorders, but our major issue at the moment is the Birch wood delivery. Once it arrives, we can start pushing the monograms at $20 unit price.

    Game Day!

    November 9, 2012 by CollegeWood

Game Day - JMU vs. GSU (Homecoming) - 10/28/2012

    • On October 27th, Nick, Nash, and Adam headed out to the tailgates, armed with 3 fresh sets of JMU letters. There was one problem... with Nash's astonishing salesmanship, the letters sold out in a matter of minutes.
    • Nick ran to the Outpost and grabbed 5 more sets, then met up at a new location.
    • They sold like hotcakes!
    • Adam turns out another 4 sets, Nick eats, and Nash sleeps.
    • Adam and Nick run to the game at the end of the 4th quarter. No bites.....
    • We then walk to the tents, getting warm, warmer, done!
    • Total Revenue for October 27th - $380

    Day 10

    November 9, 2012 by CollegeWood

    Day 10 - 9/26/2012

Again, after much customer discovery on JMU's campus, CollegeWood has pivoted it's product; but this time we think we actually have a successful MVP. As we interviewed potential customers we began to see a common theme among students, and that common theme was they all wanted something personable that they could have a connection with. After detecting this theme CollegeWood was able to reach it's "ah ha" moment. We were going to turn our MVP in to 12 inch greek letters that would come cut, sanded, and primed white, which would allow our customers to creatively design their letters how they chose!

    Day 3

    Day 3

WOW! that was fast. Here we are on the same day as blog day 1 and were some how magically on day three? Well like I said, there's been a lot going on and a lot to get you guys up to speed on. So, much to our dismay, product idea two was also a flop!

College Wood was going to sell Large Greek letters to fraternities and sororities, grand idea, right? NO! Similar to our first product proposition, we wanted to hurry up and get our product idea out to our potential customers. With much confidence we again eagerly pursued our customer discovery on campus. But, to our dismay, we quickly learned that similar to our first product; the idea was good but the demand was not. Customers told us that they had already had large letters and did no…

Day One Although we are a little late with the start of our first blog in comparison to where our company stands, we are by no means behind in the creation of our business. A lot has happened in the first two weeks following the creation of College Wood. But's let get you up to speed!

After forming the entrepreneurial team of Nick, Nash, and Adam, the collaboration immediately began. The team eagerly pondered potential ideas and products available to create a successful venture. Our groups first initial idea was to make corn hole boards and sell them to the JMU community, but quickly after much customer discovery we learned from students, that although the idea was really good, the demand for these boards was realistically quite lo…
